Thank you for all that information Tubby, that is what I am talking about and what I need, advice and critiques, to help learn. I watch a lot of tutorials online but mine never look what I am following, but I guess that comes with experience .

I’m not voting on this because I have no entry (and my votes also don’t count yet) but I feel I should warn you, people seem to vote pretty low. Bit of a weird thing but don’t take it personally. Anything over 50 here is good. Go figure.

Or, you can simply sample a colour and paint behind your mask with a low flow until you get the desired effect. It will usually do the trick.

...if your colours are not showing through enough because the brush you’re masking with has too much black, you can always double click your layer and play with the ‘blend if’ function, to naturally bring them through, without losing the brush textu
